Flying a drone
Operations involving remotely piloted aircraft or drones near Lappeenranta Airport must be approved in advance. Separate permission from air traffic control is always required.
GUIDELINES for flying a drone
If you plan to fly a remotely piloted aircraft or drone within 1 km of the runway edge, you must obtain prior approval to fly near Lappeenranta Airport. Permission is also necessary if you intend to operate within 1 km to 3 km of the runway edge, higher than 15 metres above a nearby obstacle (see definition in OPS M1-32).
Beyond 3 km from the runway edge in the vicinity of Lappeenranta Airport (CTR), you may operate up to 50 metres above ground or water without a separate permit. For higher operations, permission from air traffic control is always required.
To secure clearance from air traffic control for flying a drone, consult Fintraffic's guidance for drone pilots at fintraffic.fi. For additional comprehensive information on drone operations, visit the Trafi website at droneinfo.fi.
